I don't have a clear answer to that question at the moment. If you are asking because of your PR #924 : that I wanted to postpone until 3.0. That in turn is likely going to wait for quite a bit still. Partly because I'm rather busy right now and partly because I want the question of how the zint API is going to look like with respect to the new features required for the zxing-cpp BarcodeWriter stuff to be settled. And here I'm depending on @gitlost as well.
