Issue with scanning Code 128 codes on black background #437

I'm looking into issues with scanning a particular style of packaging which has a black label with white lines drawn onto it. I believe the issue is due to the reflectance of the package which is causing GlobalHistogramBinarizer::EstimateBlackPoint to pick a black point that is too low.

Sample photo:

Manually editing the file to set the black point threshold to 195 to manually account for the glare allows scanning to succeed:

Is there any advice or thoughts on how we could improve scanning reliability in this scenario?
