Stephanie (Helsen) Broughton joined the South Dakota State equestrian coaching staff in August 2024.
Broughton spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Delaware State, where she coached five All-America performers between the horsemanship and reining events.

"Stephanie is going to be a huge addition for us," Jackrabbit head coach Karmerra Brown said. "I am so excited for her to come here after great success at Delaware State and she is going to add to that with the Jackrabbits."

Broughton began her coaching career as a student assistant at Oklahoma State in the spring of 2022. The Cowgirls won both the National Collegiate Equestrian Association and Big 12 Conference championships that spring.

As a collegiate competitor at Oklahoma State, Broughton was selected as the team's Most Outstanding Performer in reining during both her sophomore and senior season and served as reining team captain as a senior. She also was honored multiple times on all-academic teams selected by the Big 12 and NCEA, while also earning Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors from Oklahoma State.

Broughton graduated in 2021 with bachelor of science degrees in agricultural education and agricultural leadership.
