Danielle Diaz, MS, ATC, CES

Danielle Diaz joined the Sacramento State sports medicine staff in the fall of 2019. She currently serves as the athletic trainer for football and softball and has previously worked with the men’s basketball and men’s tennis programs. Diaz arrived at Sacramento State after spending two years at Howard, where she spent the 2018-19 academic year as the assistant athletic trainer for football and women’s lacrosse. Diaz was later moved to head athletic trainer for football during the spring of 2019. During her first year at Howard (2017-18), she worked with the men’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s swim/dive programs. Diaz began her career in 2016 as a certified athletic training intern at Morgan State for the volleyball and women’s basketball programs

Diaz graduated from San Diego State with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training in 2016, and later added a master in rehabilitation sciences from California (Pa.) in 2017. She is a certified corrective exercise specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and holds a certification in functional movement screening. She is also proficient in blood flow restriction, myofascial cupping, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization.

Danielle’s personal interests include Olympic weightlifting, trying new foods, and spending time with her wife, Melissa, and their two dogs, Archer and Lana.
