This research employed an explanatory mixed-method design. Fourth-semester students from the English department of IAIN Curup were engaged as the subjects of this research. Positivism-governed document analyses and constructivism-based interviews were conducted to solicit the data as desired. The quantitative findings garnered from document analyses endorsing a ready-to-use construct proposed by Dulay, Burt, and Krashen (1982), revealed that there were four types of sentence structure errors students made, namely omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. Those types of errors were exhibited in a proximate composition which meant that the students had compatible difficulties in terms of the four types of errors. Accordingly, this study aimed to investigate the factors of English students’ WTC and UWTC in the classroom context. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method by involving eighteen students from English department at State Islamic Institute of Curup as the participants. Of those students, nine of them were those of WTC group, and other nine students were those of UWTC group. They were split in such a way according to their values of speaking subjects and resting upon their lecturer’s consideration. The attitudinal investigation employed a quantitative survey on 30 EFL teachers in Bengkulu province of Indonesia, and the investigation of perceptions applied a descriptive qualitative study on 5 EFL teachers selected purposively. The ILT perspective was referred to Liddicoat and Scarino's (2013) model. Three English teachers from one of the schools in Kepahiang District were engaged as the participants of this study. This study applied a qualitative method. The data were collected using observation. The findings of this study revealed that the teachers had applied three principles of ILT, namely active construction, making connections, and interaction. Active construction was represented by some activities such as word quiz, the use of cultures-embedded materials, group work, pair-work communication, and check and recheck with partners. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. 20 intermediate tertiary English students from one of the universities in Bengkulu were involved as the participants of this study. They were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The findings revealed that in the context of semi-formal English discussion, there were four types of maxims representing politeness. They ranged from tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, to agreement maxim. Those maxims were realized into several uses of utterances such as requesting, asking, offering, responding, and answering. This study supports a premise that the uses of politeness maxims in English communication contribute to the success of communication per se.

A descriptive quantitative method was applied by involving 30 tertiary English students at IAIN Curup as the samples. They were selected using a quota sampling technique. The present study revealed that many students (62.82%) had difficulties in combining between adjective clauses and independent clauses to generate English complex sentences. They also found it difficult to use subordinate connectors “who, whose, whom, and which” properly. Some students (42.64%) had difficulties in combining between adverbial clauses and independent clauses to generate English complex sentences. They found it difficult to use some subordinate connectors such as “after, if, before, nevertheless, nonetheless, and however” appropriately.
