The University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law is pleased to announce the next program in the Peter Perlman Lessons in the Law Series. The series, which is free, invites the public to learn about the law from legal experts in our community.

In the upcoming program, “Wills and Estate Planning 101,” a panel of distinguished legal professionals will discuss estate planning basics such as understanding the importance of having wills, powers of attorney, and documents related to health care decisions. This event will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Fayette County Circuit Court, 120 N Limestone, Lexington, Kentucky, in the Multipurpose Room.

Registration is encouraged, but not required, at law.uky.edu/LessonsInTheLaw.

Panelists include Fayette District Court Judge Denotra Spruill Gunther; Mary Ellis Patton, an attorney with Bluegrass Elderlaw PLLC; and Margaret Pisacano, deputy general counsel of medical risk management for the University of Kentucky. Glen S. Bagby, an attorney with Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, will serve as moderator.

The Lessons in the Law Series was the vision of law alumnus Peter Perlman. William E. Johnson, John G. McNeill, Justice Mary C. Noble (Ret.), and Christine L. Stanley, all alumni of the college, came together as an Advisory Board to join in this effort. The college decided to name the series after Peter Perlman in honor of his hard work to implement this type of public service program for the community.
