Congratulations to this year's National Student Advertising Competition team on yet another district win! The team consists of Kennedi Beam, Cailey Bingham, Madeline Davis, Megan Fezza, Ashely Fisher, Ben Johnson, Francesca Louise, Maya Malawi, Jenna Rampenthal, Madison Rennie, Emme Schumacher, Lauren Shaffer and Anjana Vedapuri and is led by ISC associate professors Adriane Grumbein and Alyssa Eckman
Meet our May alumni spotlight, Cheyenne Hohman. Hohman is a 2011 graduate of the master's in library science program and was one of the first Alternative Spring Break program participants. She currently works as the publications resource curator for the Kentucky Geological Survey at the University of Kentucky. Click here to read more about Cheyenne. 

W. Lawrence Patrick (MAS/TEL, 1972) was presented with UK’s highest honor, the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters during CI’s May 2023 Commencement Ceremonies. He was recognized for his monumental accomplishments in spearheading the developments of the radio and television industry in the United States and beyond during times of rapid change and volatile transformation. Besides his impeccable professional achievement, Patrick’s contribution to the academic community and educational mission of broadcasting has been equally impressive.

Nancy Wiser (MA COM, 1989) was recognized as the 2022-2023 CI Outstanding Alumnus Award winner at the CI Student Awards on April 14. Congratulations, Nancy and thanks for all you do for CI!

 

Jamie Lucke (JOU,1976), Sarah Ladd (JOU, 2019) and McKenna Horsley (JOU, 2019) launched the Kentucky Lantern, an independent, nonpartisan, free news service that aims to "fill gaps in state government reporting." Read more here about how this team is changing journalism across the state. 

Regan Nichols (COM, 2007), a Louisville-based marketing and advertising executive, delivered the Department of Integrated Strategic Communication's 2023 Irwin Warren Lecture on Thursday, April 13. This year’s event playback can be found here.

Rayleigh Deaton (COM/PS) has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar to pursue her master's degree in journalism at Royal Holloway, University of London in England for the 2023-2024 academic year. Read more here.

“I thought about my favorite children’s books — there were no books with characters that looked like me.” 

"The Endless Possibilities of Nora and Vincent" was written by CI doctoral student Nigel Taylor, edited by ISC alum Chanel Friday and illustrated by UK College of Education alum Bryant Billue to remedy that. Learn more here

After years away from UK, father-daughter duo Jeff (ICT) and Shelby Lynn (COM) walked across the stage at Rupp Arena together. Read the full story here.

Congratulations to Ray Celeste Tanner, a doctoral candidate in the graduate program in communication, on winning second place in this year's 'GradTeach Live!' competition! Learn more about the competition and watch Ray Celeste's presentation here.
