🗓️ WHAT TO DO
New MITEI edX course: Sustainable Energy
September 14-December 14
Climate change is an urgent global challenge demanding engineering solutions and large-scale, systems-oriented coordination. In Sustainable Energy, you will examine conventional and renewable energy generation technologies, studying how they are deployed throughout the world, and evaluating their roles in the future energy landscape.

In addition to technological components, you’ll become familiar with the economic, political, and social dimensions of energy project planning. You will be presented with advanced tools and strategies to explore pathways to decarbonization in specific contexts, and to build consensus among stakeholders. The course is instructed by Michael Golay, professor of nuclear science and engineering at MIT.

U.S. C3E Women in Clean Energy Symposium and Awards: Justice and equity in clean energy
November 3-4, 12:00-4:30 pm ET
Clean energy, environmental justice, and social equity are at a critical juncture in the United States. All Americans should share in the benefits of the energy transition regardless of income, race, ethnicity, gender, and geographic location. These benefits include sustainable energy technologies, new job opportunities, healthier people, and a healthier planet. At this year’s 10th U.S. C3E Women in Clean Energy Symposium and Awards, thought leaders will discuss the latest advances in the energy transition, this year’s U.N. Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), what lessons the United States can learn from other countries, and which U.S. successes are replicable in other countries, especially those with developing economies.

Data centers are going to consume energy every time you need your computer or you need the internet. This is really what is going to be at the heart of the carbon footprint. Overall, I like to think about data centers as almost like the power plant of the internet coming from the electricity grid."
