20 Cool Easter Eggs Hidden in Google's 8-Bit Maps

Google Maps transformed into a gamer's paradise Sunday, adding an 8-bit layer filled with landmarks and gaming characters to its virtual globe. Quest, described as "Google Maps 8-bit for NES," became an instant hit and immediately had fans hunting for gems within the world of large-colored pixels.

The always observant Reddit army, for example, wasted no time compiling a list of Easter eggs Google had placed throughout the Nintendo-themed Earth.

Aside from landmarks such as the Great Wall of China and the Statue of Liberty, the gallery above pictures hidden "enemies" from the Dragon Warrior video game series (see slides 14-19).

The Maps "upgrade" was just one of many April Fools' Day features Google rolled out this year.
