Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team beat Penn State Altoona on Tuesday night, 3-0.

The box score found a close match with the Mounties taking 10 shots compared to the Lions total of seven. Seven of the Mounties shots were on goal, while the Lions only put three on target for the game.

In the 13th minute, the Mounties got on the scoreboard. Summer Schell (Hershey, PA, Hershey) took a free kick and sent it into the box. Schell's kick found a streaking Maddie Doyle (Abington, PA, Abington) who used a header to score her third goal of the season. All three of her goals have been scored on headers.

The rest of the first half saw little action, as both teams combined to attempt three shots in the final 32 minutes. The teams went to the half, with Mount Aloysius ahead 1-0.

Sam Torrenti (Chester, CT, Valley Regional) got the first goal of the second half, in the 79th minute. She struck a ball from the left side of the field, well outside the box. Her shot curved into the top right corner of the goal, for her second goal of the season. The goal gave the Mounties a 2-0 lead.

Mount Aloysius added on to their lead with just over four minutes remaining. Jenna Gardner (Montoursville, PA, Loyalsock) found Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) for her fifth goal of the campaign. Walls also leads the team in goals scored.

With the final, Lauren Davey (Leonardtown, MD, St. Mary's Ryken) picked up her sixth shutout of the season.

The win also improved the Mounties to 3-1-2 in AMCC play. They will look to add on to the win total on Saturday, as they take on Medaille, in Buffalo.
