In this video I'm going to show you how to take some trim, some decorative upholstery trim that I picked up at Hobby Lobby and turn it into a really pretty Christmas tree. I bought this 17 inch Styrofoam cone at Michael's. And I took the decorative trim that I had purchased at Hobby Lobby quite some time ago. And it's got this really pretty shabby chic with pearl tassel vintage vibe. And I simply hot glued it down to the Styrofoam cone. And just started wrapping the cone with the decorative trim. After I got the first three bottom layers on there. I didn't have to glue it as much. I just kept wrapping and then gluing periodically to ensure that the trim was not going to go anywhere. I kept wrapping it all the way to the top. Probably gluing every two rows just a little blob of glue seemed to do the trick. And once I got up to the top I just wrapped it kind of to make a point at the top and then just cut it off and then glued it. I had this old detailed ornade candlestick in my craft stash. Picked this up at the Goodwill quite a while ago and I love the shape of it. I just wanted to darken it up a bit. Make it a little bit more antique bronze than gold. So I took some black paint and mixed in some Paint Pixie Metallic New Penny and brushed it all over the candlestick and then I just used a paper towel and wiped it all off just so it some of the gold still shows through but it also warmed it up a bit. After that was all dry and the paint was dry I took some antique gold rub and buff and I just went over all those fancy details on the candlestick. Just to bring out all those ornate designs on the candlestick. Once the anti gold rub and buff was on there I had this little ceramic angel that my grandmother had given me so I put that at the top of the tree kind of like a tree topper and then I just hot glued it to my candlestick and I ended up actually making another smaller one and used a totally dazzled brooch at the top of it and then I paired it in my living room with my Totally Dazzled Bling Tree that I made a few days ago and I absolutely love how it looks and it I love that I have the angel from my grandmother up on the top there. It kind of adds a sentimental value to everything and I hope you guys enjoyed and get inspired. Go make sure you shop those bargain bins at the Hobby Lobby for their trims.
