Srirangapatnam Fort, Karnataka
Situated near the river Kaveri, among the most prominent monuments in Karnataka is the Srirangapatna Fort. Karnataka has several heritage monuments but this is one heritage destination has seen many changes since it was built in 1454. It was a prime defence centre for many decades. It was first built as a mud fort during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire by a local chieftain named Timmanna Hebbar. Within, there is a Rocket Court from where Tipu Sultan used to launch missiles.
Bidar Fort Complex, attributed to Sultan Alla-Ud Din Bahman of the Bahmanid Dynasty, who shifted his capital from Gulbarga to Bidar in 1427 and built his fort along with a number of Islamic monuments.
