PLANNED INMARSAT I-3 TO I-4 MIGRATION IN 2018

The International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) inform the maritime community of the planned Inmarsat I-3 to I-4 satellite migration in 2018, as follows:

  1. Atlantic Ocean Region West (AORW) migrated to Americas (AMER) completed on 9 May 2018.
    • Metarea IV (HSFAT1): broadcast changes to AMER and AORE (15.5W)
    • Metarea XII (HSFEPI): broadcast changes to POR and AMER
  2. Pacific Ocean Region (POR) migrated to Asia/Pacific (APAC) completed on 29 August 2018.
    • Metarea IV (HSFAT1): no change
    • Metarea XII (HSFEPI): broadcast via AMER and APAC
  3. Atlantic Ocean Region East (AORE) migrated from 15.5W to 54.0W completed on 30 October 2018.
    • Metarea IV (HSFAT1): broadcast changes to AORE (54.0W)
    • Metarea XII (HSFEPI): no change
  4. Indian Ocean Region (IOR) migration to Europe/Middle East/Asia (EMEA) scheduled for 12 December 2018.
    • Metarea IV (HSFAT1): no change
    • Metarea XII (HSFEPI): no change
