The University of Oklahoma Accreditation

The University of Oklahoma is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an independent corporation founded in 1895 as one of six regional (now institutional) accreditors in the United States. Formerly known as the North Central Association, HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the United States.

Institutional accreditation evaluates an entire institution and accredits it as a whole. The Commission accredits approximately 950 institutions of higher education.
