However, his evil...See moreBefore passing away, Lady Pagwell (Dame Diana Rigg) leaves a legacy in memory of her late husband to fund local new inventions and, as the only inventor in town, Professor Branestawm (Harry Hill) is the obvious recipient. However, his evil opponents Councillor Harold Hagglestone (David Mitchell) and Miss Silt (Doreen Ingleton) insist on an inventing competition to divert the cash elsewhere. The likeliest contender is Professor Algebrain (Steve Pemberton), who lodges with Connie (Madeline Holliday) and her mother Aggie (Sophie Thompson), and who decides to steal one of Branestawm's creations, electric clairvoyant glasses, to pass off as his own.
