225K views · 2.1K reactions | Tenon Jig That Rides The Fence | This tenon jig cuts straight and true since it rides the table saw fence | By John Heisz - I Build It | In this video I'll be building a new tenon jig to replace my old one. I'm going to be making the new one from half-inch Baltic birch plywood and I've got a piece here that's big enough to get all the parts from and the first ones that I'm going to cut are two for the front. The next part is the top and that has to be the same width as the fence. And I want to make the back so that it's tall enough so that it clears the gadget for changing the table saw blade so it's like a quarter inch up off the top of the fence. And this is actually a pretty good example of one of the plans that are available on my website. This is my gear link twin screw vice. If you're up for a challenge and you want something that not only works great but looks cool I recommend this one. And in this new one, I'm going to make two handles and these handles also act as braces that will help to keep the jig square. Next, I need to take one of those parts that I cut in the beginning and split it down the middle and cut a notch into each edge and the notches that I'm cutting here have to fit the toilet bolts that I'm using and the toilet bolts are for the clamp bar that I'll be making next. With everything put together and sanded smooth, I can give it a couple of coats of water-based polyurethane and what this does is it protects the jig from moisture and it also helps to keep it clean. I let the finish dry overnight and now I can do some test cuts to see how it works. This first one is your typical tenon and I'm cutting on the end of this one by four.

52K views · 3.8K reactions | Have you seen this setup yet? Reid from @rstoolcompany came up with this design - it’s machined aluminum and the collars sit into the tracks, allowing you to change the positions. Mount it higher and you can actually lay it down against the wall. This setup is great for tables and larger pieces. The whole thing is setup for 3/4” pipe clamps because of the rigidity, but I have a bunch of 1/2” pipes so I 3D printed a piece to go between the clamp companion and the pipe. Without wall space it’s hard to make the best use of this, but the end of my outfeed table is a perfect spot for me! #workshop #clamps #woodworking #woodworkshop #dowoodworking #woodshop #maker #smallbusiness #woodworkingtools | Newman Specials Custom Woodworking

798K views · 8.4K reactions | The Greatest Upgrade I've EVER Made on my Table Saw | The Greatest Upgrade I've EVER Made on my Table Saw | By MWA Woodworks | Talk about all the things you might want to attach to this fence and the first thing would be feather boards feather boards are a great way to add downward pressure to your work piece as you push it through the saw blade helping to prevent nasty kickbacks. If you only have one feather board that's fine but it's good if you can add one just before and after the blade to control a work piece throughout the cut. Another jig that can be attached is the very useful L fence. The L fence makes quick work of rabbits, tapered cuts, miters, bevels, and making precise cuts on awkwardly sized parts. Myel fence is just two boards fastened along their edge at a right angle. For example, let's say I wanted to make a tapered cut along one side of this MDF. I first make marks where the beginning and endpoints of the taper should be. Next, I need to find some type of straight edge to use as a guide for the fence. I fasten the guide to my work piece using double-sided tape lining it up at the beginning and end of my taper. You want to make sure that the L fence is hovering just above the blade so that it's flush with the outside edge of the blade and that the blade height is just enough to cut through your work piece. Now, I just run the work piece through the saw making sure that my guide is contacting my L fence at all times. Then, I can just pop off the guide and there's my taper. This was an easy cut to make. I didn't need a tapering sled for it and I also didn't have to put my hands near the blade. Okay, for my Next trick, I need to flip the fence around to use the notch side. Think of this like a miniature L fence but with a really tall vertical support. By setting the blade flush with the fence, anything riding against the fence is going to be safe and anything under the notch will be cut by the blade. Okay, let's say that the scrap of plywood is a shelf that I glued a hardwood edge on to and I want to cut that edge flush. I just firmly hold the work piece against the fence and the blade takes off the X S. Now I have my edge all flush with the shelf. So probably the most used jig that I attached to the slider is one that allows me to cut tenons. I've done this many times in other videos making door parts for cabinets. This jig is pretty simple. There are two holes at the top to bolt the jig to the slider and two holes along the back to bolt on a vertical fence that is 90degrees to the table. Here you can see with the cuts I made on this scrap wood how the jig safely guide your work piece vertically across the blade. You can see here how easy it is to change out the jigs on the slider. Everything is fastened with one inch quarter 20 hex bolts. The last jig I'm going to show you guys is the spline cutting jig. It's the same size as the tinnoning jig but instead of a vertical fence, it has a 90 degree V fence that crails the work piece across the blade. This allows you to cut slots for splines and things like miter picture frames to add strength to the joint. I'm not making picture frames at the moment but here's an example of cutting these using two pieces of wood that I glued up using a minor joint.
