Unidata will extend its ADDE subservers to support zlib compressed NIDS
products. As you know, we already provide our users with ADDE AGET and
ADIR servers that can handle the NIDS data available from WSI
Corporation. These servers were enhanced in the fall of 1999 to
support the slighty different format of the NIDS products in NOAAPORT
(before they got encrypted). The extension of support to zlib
compressed imagery will not be difficult, so I expect to be able to
offer it when the NIDS data goes "live" and unencrypted in the fall of
2000 (or sooner if we get appropriate documentation and example
files).

The NIDS (and GINI) ADDE servers I have developed are available to any
licensed McIDAS site (Unidata sites already have it) for the asking.
