- Subject: 19990707: Possible identity to station 74626

James,
I found 74650 and 651 in FSL's upper air station table at
http://raob.fsl.noaa.gov/intl/intl2000.wmo
74650 35.68N 95.87W 216m MORRIS 99 OK
74651 34.97N 97.70W 343m PURCELL 99 OK
Still looking for 84626. I contacted Robert Mullenax at
the National Scientific Balloon Facillity. He didn't have the info
but was going to look into it...though he was leaving for vacation
when I asked.

>Data from the unknown station "74626" showed up on this morning's
>DIFAX upper air plots (12Z, 7 Jul 1999). It appears to located
>around Phoenix, AZ. There were soundings from Phoenix last
>summer on the domestic data circuit, but the identifier was "72278".

>I thought perhaps it was a nearby locale like Luke Air Force base,

>On a another note involving mystery upper air stations, I noticed
>two today (18Z data). They are "74650" and "74651". The data for TTAA

>I think the stations are in Oklahoma. KBWL is Blackwell, OK.
>KMRS is unknown. Although KPRC is Prescott, AZ, the demonstation
>profiler station Purcell, OK goes by the identifier PRC.

>I tried the Weather Service website for station location information
>(http://www.nws.noaa.gov/oso/site.shtml), but I came up empty.

>Anyway, if any piece of info comes your way, please forward it to me.
