Cryosphere Now
The Cryosphere Now pages provide recent plots, maps, images, and assessments that illustrate the current state of the cryosphere (the frozen water part of the Earth system). Graphics representing data on sea ice, snow, and the atmosphere are generally no more than a few days old. Information on permafrost, glaciers, and ice sheets may be six–twelve months old. Graphics are automatically updated on an hourly, daily, or monthly basis, depending on the product.
Important: The products shown on the Cryosphere Now pages provide a variety of perspectives on the state of the cryosphere. They are for purposes of illustration and comparison and are not necessarily endorsed by the World Metereological Organization's Global Cryosphere Watch as "authoritative."
