Tracy Morgan Joins Squidbillies as New Voice of Early Cuyler in Final Season
The search is over: Tracy Morgan has been chosen as the new voice of Early Cuyler ahead of Squidbillies‘ upcoming final season, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Of course, Morgan wasn’t the only familiar name up for the role. As you’ll see in the video above, a number of Adult Swim favorites got to “audition,” including George Lowe (the voice of Space Ghost), Spencer Grammer (Rick and Morty‘s Summer), Steve Blum (aka T.O.M. of Toonami) and Squidbillies co-creator Dave Willis (who also voices Aqua Teen Hunger Force‘s Meatwad).
And just to make things even more official, here’s an image you will never be able to erase from your memory:
News of Morgan’s casting comes two months after Stuart Baker (aka Unknown Hinson), who voiced Early for Squidbillies‘ first 12 seasons, was fired over “extremely offensive” Facebook posts that disparaged the Black Lives Matter movement.
Morgan currently stars as Tray Barker on TBS’ The Last O.G., now in its fourth season. He’s previously best known for playing Tracy Jordan on NBC’s 30 Rock (2006–2013), as well as for his seven-season stint on Saturday Night Live (1996–2003).
Squidbillies‘ final season kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 7 with the first of 10 new episodes loaded with “backwoods jackassery.” Hit PLAY on the video above to watch Morgan’s journey to landing the role, then drop a comment with your thoughts on his casting below.

How ironic I just brought up Tracey when I said my fave SNL hosts are alums that bring back other surprise alums for fave skits!! Traceys commercials are funny!

So true indeed. Watched the first episodes and will NOT watch the remaining…They could have at least replaced the original voice with someone that had a voice that was close to the original.
AGREE 1000%. as soon as i heard that voice it was the END for me. Oh come on they couldn’t even get someone close to the same voice? They just went totally WOKE and ruined the show. Thank goodness it was the final season.

The original voice actor was a hateful racist [censored], it puts such a huge smile on my face that they picked Tracy Morgan!

It’s meant to put a smile on your face because they’re pandering to you, the audience. It’s really sad that they’re doing that, and it goes against the spirit of the show. Tracy Morgan is not at all up to the task of voicing Early Cuyler and this casting will spoil what could have been a graceful (at least by Squidbillies standards) final season.
Tracy Morgan isn’t fit for the part, but racism is a good enough reason to lose your job. Be mad at Unknown Hinson. They could have found 100s of people that could at least imitate his voice if they really tried.

I don’t know if I can get behind Tracey Morgan as Early Cuyler. I believe that he could add to the show with a new character or maybe another storyline where Early gets amnesia then forgets his southern accent and family folk.
Otherwise I’d be disappointed that Early Cuyler lost his Georgia Hillbilly accent.smh

This is how you cancel your last season with this Marxist cancel crap. The only post they named as “offensive” was nothing compared to the show. If they’re going to fire Hinson, they better have something more offensive to cite. Whoever made this decision should be fired.

Just watched the new episode, and it’ll be the last. This new clown sucks, it’s not Early(Who was the reason the show was funny). The episode was boring as hell without Unknown Hinson. See ya

With Tracy Morgan taking over for early cuyler it’s pretty clear that a lot of the funniest skits on the show or a product of unknown hinson’s improvisation.
He had a knack for naturally mangling the words and the fact that he did it with that heavy backwards Georgia draw made it even funnier.
Tracy Morgan just reads the lines and doesn’t do any improvising which was so critical to the humor of the show. Tracy for all his talents also completely lacks the ability to convey the absurdist emotions that were critical to the character.
The irony is canceling unknown hinson they canceled everything that made the show so funny.
I don’t blame Tracy Morgan though the blame belongs solely to the show’s creators. The vastly overestimated how much of what made the show work was due to their efforts while vastly underestimated the contribution of unknown hinson as early cuyler to making the show a success.
They thought they could replace him easily and they failed miserably they should have just made him make a public apology for his statements and let him finish the last season and go out on a hi note. Instead they will go out as a dramatically diminished show producing the worst season of all that will be viewed by very few and quickly forgotten.
Its unfortunately Stuart Baker (aka Unknown Hinson) had offensive comments but replacing his coice with anyone is stupid. You should have just cancelled the show because no one can replace Earlys’voice. Tracy Morgan is aweful. My gf and i will no longer watch this show.

Squidbillies went from the funniest show on tv to the worst piece of garbage ever. Screw the creators, producers and seek outs that ruined it. Unknown Hinson is what made it funny and without him I wouldn’t wipe my butt with it. BLM is a terrorist organization and Dolly Parton is a big rotted southern bimbo.
I’m a fan of Tracy Morgan and all, but him voicing Early Cuyler is friggin TERRIBLE. I couldn’t even make it through the first episode of the new season. Firing Stuart “Unknown Hinson” Baker was the DUMBEST move they could’ve made; he IS Early Cuyler. Nevermind the fact he got fired for an asinine reason. The show is basically unwatchable now. RIP indeed. Unfortunately, unless they bring back Baker and re-record the voice for Early, Squidbillies is dead – this final season is simply not the same show.

It’s crazy how many people here don’t understand that him sounding nothing like Baker was the entire point in casting him. Take it from Early himself, “squids don’t talk, you know that right? You need to move on.”
Squidbillies was my favorite cartoon ever, couldn’t watch more than 3 min of the season. Earlys a REDNECK squid, so maybe atleast keep his voice sounding like one. Very sad the sissified cancel culture of todays world has been allowed to ruin another good show.
Thank god this is the last season. Tracy Morgan has no business doing this show. A big shout out to the “disloyal” other voices, on the show for not backing him up. Hope they never work in the industry again.

I like Tracy Morgan . He’s a great comedian however his voice is not right for this program. To ruin the final season of a very funny show like the squid billies was not a good move. I have been a longtime fan because I am from the South. Tracey Morgan has a Northern accent. Really guys to make a point to one man you are going to ruin the whole show. I am seriously thinking about just not watching the rest of the season and just stop watching Adult Swim all together. It’s a shame.
They shouldn’t have made a 13th season. They say “unlucky 13” for a reason.
Tracy is a great actor don’t get me wrong, but the voice is all wrong.

Get a new voice for Early. Stuart Baker was funny as hell. Early is not funny anymore. There’s got to be someone who sounds like the old Early.
