Kaley Burgess begins her first year as an assistant athletic trainer working with the VMI basketball and rifle teams.
Burgess achieved her bachelor of science degree in sports health with a minor in psychology from the University of Delaware in 2023 and went on to earn a master of science degree in athletic training in 2024.
A Bridgewater, Virginia native, Burgess comes to the Institute from the University of North Carolina where she completed her immersive experience as a second-year MSAT student working with the women’s gymnastics team.
As a graduate athletic training student, she worked with Delaware’s cross country and track and field teams and men’s lacrosse team during the 2022-2023 season. In addition to her experience at the collegiate level, Burgess also has experience working with high school athletes where she served as a graduate athletic training student at Caravel Academy in Bear, Delaware, during the Fall 2023 season.
She is a BOC certified athletic trainer and certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. Burgess has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) since 2021.
