The Arts Section 04/29/18
On this edition of The Arts Section, host Gary Zidek catches up with Sophie Fiennes, the director of a new documentary about Grace Jones. The former model, singer/actress doesn't appear to be slowing down, even as she approaches her 70th birthday. The Dueling Critics, Kelly Kleiman and Jonathan Abarbanel, join Gary to discuss Collaboraction's world premiere A BLUE ISLAND IN THE RED SEA, a theater work dedicated to exploring Chicago's race issues. WDCB's own Paul Abella takes a closer look at a new album from The Mesthetics and outlines the connections between jazz and hardcore. And Gary talks to the director of an upcoming PBS documentary titled JAZZ AMBASSADORS, that tells the little-known story of the U.S. government's cultural diplomacy initiative. All that, plus the weekly Arts Section calendar.
