The Arts Section 07/01/18
On this edition of The Arts Section, host Gary Zidek visits the Art Institute's new photo exhibit, NEVER A LOVELY SO REAL. The exhibit, named after a passage from Nelson Algren's CHICAGO: CITY ON THE MAKE, offers glimpses of a Chicago rarely seen in museums. Then, Gary talks to critically-acclaimed author Rebecca Makkai about her new book, THE GREAT BELIEVERS. The novel, which is set in 1980's Chicago and modern day Paris, is getting rave reviews. A little later in the program, the Dueling Critics, Kelly Kleiman and Jonathan Abarbanel, join the fun. The Critics review Nothing Without a Company's Chicago premiere of NOT ONE BATU. And Gary sits down with Chicago jazz vocalist Erin McDougald to talk about her new album and an upcoming concert at the Den Theatre.
