 Trafalgar 200

On 21 October 1805, Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson was killed at the moment of his greatest victory - the destruction of the combined French and Spanish fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar. 200 years on, revisit the fleets, the follies and the firepower.

25 October 1854 - The Battle of Balaclava, famous for the 'Charge of the Light Brigade', prevents Russian soldiers from capturing the British-held Black Sea port.

26 October 1918 - Stonehenge is given to the nation by the owner of the site, Sir Cecil Chubb.

28 October 1962 - The Cuban missile crisis ends when the Soviet Union announces it will dismantle its missiles based in Cuba.
