   3.1.2000 | ut mutator pack 1 released
Today coil released a pack of two Mutators for Unreal Tournament. Each mini modification adds new and unique gameplay to any Unreal Tournament GameType. This new pack includes:

Ambition:
Each player starts with the Impact Hammer. To gain a better weapon, the player must make successive kills. However, after each new weapon is acquired, the player's running speed is reduced. If you are killed, you start back with Impact Hammer. You only carry one weapon at a time, and ammo is virtually unlimited.

CoilJump:
Each time a player is shot, they are propelled into the air. You can earn bonuses by juggling your opponents, such as extra health or frags.

Each Mutator has it's own professional quality config dialog, where the player can tweak options. This release is just a taste of what coil is preparing for the Unreal Tournament community. Download the pack from ModCentral Unreal!

2.19.2000 | new development and Glyphs news

coil has started work on "Project II", our next venture. GA Source has posted a news article about after talking with our very own Keith 'spielberg' Emigh. It covers such subjects as our switch to the Unreal Tournament Engine and a glimpse at the unique nature of the mod.

Very soon we'll be posting some info about "Project II" (as well as its real name), so check back often!

As for those interested in the state of The Glyphs, we've been so busy with the new project and real life issues that we unfortunately haven't had time to release a new version. If you are an experienced programmer, and are interested in maintaining The Glyphs codebase as well as join our dynamic team, send a mail to info@coil-inc.com with links to examples of your work.

1.12.2000 | coil button and update

Mike 'tech13' Bodine made a swanky little link button. Feel free to link to us with it.

Also, Look later this week for The Glyphs server patch to remove some of the more vile bugs that have plagued us.

1.6.2000 | glyphs spotlight

GameSpy.com has done a spotlight on coil and our mod, The Glyphs. Check it out!

The response to the Glyphs has been very favorable. We know there are many bugs to be ironed out, so bear with us as we try to stabilize the codebase. Rest assured we will be releasing an udpate. Also, look soon for map specs, so you map makers can get started!

1.4.2000 | glyphs released!

Version .9a of The Glyphs has been released. Grab it now from the Files section. To find information on The Glyphs, check the About section. After you've played on the servers, talk about it with us and other players in the Forums!

12.9.99 | glyphs update

Project Lead Keith Emigh gave GA-Source the lowdown on the status of The Glyphs, and a hint of the future of coil.

9.20.99 | glyphs to be released soon

from project lead Keith Emigh:

It's been a while since Coil has given updates on The Glyphs. For all of you who have e-mailed us with encouragement and questions, thank you and I personally apologize for not replying. Each of us on the Coil team had to put the project on hold for a while and even now find it difficult to get more done on the project. Seeing as The Glyphs is being released for free, we're not sure if we'll ever complete it to the vision we originally planned.

The code for The Glyphs is done, but we are lacking in maps to release. Because we are releasing this to the Heretic II community, we feel that it might be a good idea to let the entire community continue development for the game and story. We are considering releasing the .dll and .pak files for everyone to try out the game. We would then leave it to the community to continue development with new maps, textures, and maybe even player models. All of us here at Coil would answer questions and help out. Tell us what you think. If anyone out there is interested in this proposal, reply on this forum or e-mail us at info@coil-inc.com.
