A recent English patch for Medieval II: Total War is now online to bring the 3D real-time and turn-based strategy sequel by Creative Assembly to version 1.1, in sync with the earlier retail upgrades. As before, this update adds a ModTool Unpacker and applies a large number of crash repairs, gameplay and AI tweaks, bug fixes and other changes as detailed in the accompanying release notes.

Six Islamic militants, including a delivery guy for Super Mario's Pizza, were arrested on charges of plotting to attack the Fort Dix Army post and kill as many soldiers as possible, the Associated Press is reporting.
An FBI informant secretly recorded conversations over the past year in which the half-dozen men detailed their plot.
"This was a serious plot put together by people who were intent on harming Americans," U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie said Tuesday. "We're very gratified federal law enforcement was able to catch these people before they acted and took innocent life."
Christie said one of the suspects worked at Super Mario's Pizza in nearby Cookstown and delivered pizzas to the base.
An exciting bit of Fallout 3 news surfaced this morning. Apparently Liam Neeson, the Oscar nominated Irish actor known for his roles in Star Wars Episode I, Shindler's List, The Chronicles of Narnia and Batman Begins, will lead the cast providing the voice of the player’s father and will appear prominently throughout the game.
Mr. Neelson has this to say:
"It’s been a pleasure bringing the father to life and working with the wonderfully talented people at Bethesda on Fallout 3,” said Neeson. “I hope the fans of the franchise and the game will be excited by the results.”
No other details on Fallout 3 have yet been revealed by Bethesda, although a teaser trailer countdown has begun on the game's website: fallout.bethsoft.com

In the update Valve notes that the Half-Life 2 development team is “working hard on putting the final parts of Episode Two together.”

While yearly releases don’t feel very episodic to me, it's half the time we waited between Half-Life 2 (2004) and Episode One (2006). Does Valve need to get its act together and deliver at a faster pace, or does a game like Half-Life 2 need time for perfection?
According to
CVG.com the long-rumored new installment of Blizzard's massive StarCraft series is not only set to be unveiled later this month - but it's reportedly another massively-multiplayer online game in the style of World of Warcraft.
CVG claims a well placed insider has revealed to them that the StarCraft MMO will be unveiled at the upcoming Blizzard WWI on May 19 in South Korea - the epicentre of the sci-fi RTS series' rabid fandom.
Of course this is massive news for both Vivendi and the MMO world; Blizzard's other online offering World of Warcraft has topped 6 million subscribers and is arguably the biggest game around today.
The question is, is there room for both World of Warcraft and a StarCraft MMO? The later will have to be a very different type of online game to convince gamers to subscribe to both of Blizzard's pair.

Introversion has issued another retail patch for DEFCON, upgrading their recently released strategy game of mutually assured destruction to version 1.42. This update adds server browser improvements, new filter and sorting options, and other enhancements.
It seems quite a few of you out there are unconvinced the state of PC gaming has improved when compared to last year and I'm right with you. Sure the majority of time I spend gaming these days is on my PC but does one or two triple-A titles really constitute saying there has been an "improvement"?
With development cycles lasting longer then leap year occurrences it's hard to get excited about upcoming PC games. There's delays, the constant hardware upgrades, and then there's the rush effect. Is there anything worse then having a highly anticipated title come out and have it feel partially finished (cough..cough..Vanguard)?

ECA’s Hal Halpin sits down to discuss Clements High situation
Recently Hal Halpin, President of the Entertainment Consumers Association, sat down with Gamepolitics.com to comment on Paul Hwang, the Texas student who was removed from Clements High School for creating a Counter-strike map based on the layout of the school. Here is what Mr. Halpin had to say:
"Paul Hwang’s only crime was bad timing. He had the misfortune of uploading his mod during a period of time in which the nation was, perhaps unduly, made sensitive about the supposed link between violence and video games.
It seemed to me that the law enforcement authorities acted with prudence and that the school board should do similarly. This will likely be the first of many such instances where older generations who don’t understand a medium, fear it, and as a result there will be reactionary decisions made. It’s incumbent upon gamers to persevere and to prove the rule and not the exception. Only together, and over time, can we accomplish such a lofty goal."
