News – Coastguards have recovered the dead bodies of at least 36 Haitian migrants after their boat capsized in shark-infested waters. Between 40 and 50 more are still missing at sea. Around 150 were thought to be crammed on the eight to ten-metre long boat.

News – A Kenya Airways passenger plane - carrying 115 people, 5 of which are Britons - has crashed in southern Cameroon, according the state radio reports. 106 passengers and 9 crew were aboard the Boeing 737-800. Contact was lost with the plane just after take-off in Douala, Cameron.
