Hint: Grow a Golden Shovel
Bury a shovel anywhere and dig it up one day (24 hours) later. The shovel will become a Golden Shovel. Using the Golden Shovel, you can bury bags of money to hopefully grow money trees. Larger lumps of money increase the odds of growing a fruitful money tree.
Hint: Growing Fruit Trees
You can plant a piece of fruit to grow a tree that bears that fruit. However, not all parts of your town are suitable for growing. To ensure that your fruit tree grows, chop down an existing tree (preferrably one that dooesn't grow fruit) and dig up the stump with a shovel. Bury the fruit in the hole you dug and it will always grow into a fruit bearing tree.
Hint: Get New Furniture for Free
If you've got some stuff you don't want, like ugly furniture or shirts, you can attach it to a letter and send the letter to another resident of your town. Town residents will almost always respond with a letter of their own and a different item attached.
In town, you may attempt to hit each rock with a tool to shake it out for money. You may continue your shake down until this rock exhausts itself. This manner of money-making may be done once per day.
When you hit the rock, money will come out. However, you will bounce back. You will have to run back to hit it again. To prevent this, dig holes around you in a pattern so that you won't bounce away. You can make 20,000+ bells a day this way, but you have to be fast to get this much.

Upgrade Tom Nook's shop by simply purchasing the necessary upgrade -- there are two levels you can purchase normally. A final additional upgrade level (Nookington's) requires someone else (a guest) to shop at the store. If you need a friend, head to IGN's free
Animal Crossing Board and put out your Friend Code!

In the winter where you find snowballs get a rather big snowball and push a little smaller one on top and a snowman will be made and will talk about how happy he is and a little while later he will send you a letter and a piece of furniture but whatch out the furniture may be worth a lot in Tom Nook's store but you can't buy it in the catalog also it gives you a lot of HRA points.

You need two Nintendo DSes, two copies of the game since you will be farming both files. A cooperative buddy will also be helpful. The process goes as follows:
Player one needs to go through their game and note which days Tom Nook buys turnips (or some other commodity) at a high price. When you locate a day that you will turn a good profit from selling turnips, have player two with the second DS go to a Sunday morning at 6 AM. (The second player may need to change the system settings to do this).
Player two needs to find Joan and then buy as many turnips as can be afforded. Connect the DSes and have Player two sell the turnips to Nook's store in Player one's town. Repeat this farming technique as often as needed.

To complete your catalogue, you only need to borrow (as opposed to steal) an item from someone. You do not need to purchase it or even take it back to your own town. Just put the item in your pocket for a moment and that will add its entry to your catalogue.
When you visit a friend's town, have him/her place items that are not in your catalogue on the ground. Fill your pocket with items that you have that are missing from his/her catalogue. When you reach the town, empty your pockets and fill them with your friend's items. Afterwards, retrieve your own items and leave your friend's items on the ground for him/her to retrieve. This temporary exchange of items is sufficient to add them to your catalogue.

Any white turnips you place on a table inside your home will never go bad. This will let you wait for a high turnip selling price without worrying about your turnips rotting.

In order to obtain 4 gifts from special visitors like Pascal instead of 1, all you have to do is make certain that you have four characters in your house. When you see Pascal, play each character one after the other, saving your game each time and then starting again with the new character. (Do not change the clock!)
Once Pascal is seen in your town by one character, he will be in your town that day for all characters in your house. This is true with respect to Wendell and K.K. Slider as well. You can obtain four different patterns this way and four different songs.

Hint: Surface To Air - Second Chances
If you are willing to travel through time, you can get a second chance to shoot down Gulliver's UFO. If you see his UFO flying across the sky but are unable to shoot it down, log the precise time and then save and quit your game.
Reset your clock to the previous day and then move forward to the day when he is scheduled to appear. Make certain that you set the clock to a point that is about half an hour earlier than his first appearance because he usually will appear a bit earlier each time you see him.
In other words, if he flew across the sky at 7.45 a.m. on Tuesday, be ready, slingshot in hand, at 7.20 a.m. You will see him fly across the sky again and have a second chance to shoot him down. (Going back in time within the same day only does NOT work. You first must go back to the previous day.)
Note that Time Travel will keep turnip prices in your town below 100 Bells.

Hint - Pay Off Mortgages Faster
This will only be effective if you know that it's going to take you a while (at least a month) to pay off the mortgage, either because it's a big one or you simply like to take your time.
Instead of putting money straight into paying off a bit your mortgage, put the amount to be payed into your savings account, and every time you want to use money to pay off part of your mortgage, put it into the savings account instead. Then, once you have enough to pay off your mortgage, take the required amount of money out of the account and pay it off.
This should actually shorten the amount of time it takes to pay off the mortgage because you're getting a bit of money added to the account at the end of every month (more money in the account means more is added on).
