July 2, 2007 - This past week IGN was part of a very special opportunity given to a group of online press to visit the set of SCI FI Channel's acclaimed series Battlestar Galactica. As fans are now aware, the currently in production fourth season of Galactica will be the final one, making the chance to visit the set one that quite simply won't exist a year from now. As part of the visit, we were shown a number of fascinating things, including a tour of all of the familiar sets from the series, along with some brand new locations that offer some intriguing hints towards what's to come in Season 4 - look for a more detailed piece on all of that soon.

The highlight of the visit however was a Q&A; with five key cast members from the series; Aaron Douglas ("'Chief' Galen Tyrol"), Michael Hogan ("Saul Tigh"), Jamie Bamber ("Lee 'Apollo' Adama"), Grace Park ("Sharon 'Athena' Agathon"), and Tahmoh Penikett ("Karl 'Helo' Agathon"). They were joined by Battlestar's line producer Harvey Frand and Mark Stern, SCI FI Channel's Executive Vice President of Programming, who served as moderator. Sitting nearby was SCI FI Channel's President, Bonnie Hammer, who also joined in the conversation periodically. Making the conversation even cooler was the fact that it was done on the Galactica hanger bay set, with the actors sitting in front of two full size Colonial Vipers, with another Viper and a Raptor sitting right nearby.

This week we'll present you with the entire conversation with the Battlestar creators, over the course of three different segments. In this first segment, the cast discuss their feelings about filming the final season of the show; when asked about fan encounters, we learn why Jamie Bamber thinks "There's only one person who can possibly answer that question, and that's Aaron Douglas"; and Tahmoh Penikett shares his own stories of some very odd interactions with Galactica viewers, both famous or otherwise.

Note: The language used during the panel is a bit more FX Channel than SCI FI Channel, and features the Galactica cast saying some words you won't likely hear them say on the show.
