“War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children.”

OpEd: Why Bush's Balanced Assessment of Iraq is Utterly Unbalanced

Politics – To hear the president spin it, today's interim progress report on Iraq is 'a mixed bag.' And this, according to the president, 'is a cause for optimism.' That's like a doctor telling you that while your child has shiny hair he also has a brain tumor -- and you coming away thinking the doctor's report is 'a mixed bag.' That's insane.

Politics – I once tried to explain to a Norwegian woman why it was so hard for me to find health insurance. I'd had breast cancer. 'But then you really need insurance, right?'
