Movies – America is again absorbed with the death in Afghanistan of Pat Tillman. I found the celebration of his death to be upsetting. But the classic film, "The Americanization of Emily" gave a refreshing perspective. If we glorify death, we shouldn't be surprised when we get more of it.

Television – If a guy wearing a big furry hat, black nail polish, and eyeliner thicker than yours walked up to you in a bar and threw insults your way, would you suddenly become weak-kneed and fall into his arms? News – Lieutenant Clay Hanna looks sick and white. Like his colleagues he does not seem to sleep. Hanna says he catches up by napping on a cot between operations in the command centre, amid the noise of radio. He is up at 6am and tries to go to sleep by 2am or 3am. But there are operations to go on and planning to be done.

Because of this, Microsoft has had to release a new Service Pack. The reason: they were running out of activation keys.

Gadgets & Tech – TechCrunch reports that Google ignominiously shut down its video marketplace via email to us and everyone else who's ever tried the service. The product, announced in January 2006 at CES by Larry Page, was an answer to iTunes' sales of television shows. It was largely forgotten afterwards and if sales were occuring, we didn't hear much about it.
