I'm a PC gamer as well, with a tricked out system (Quad core Q6700, 8800GTX, Vista 64, 4GB ram...) , and usually would pick a PC game for game of the year, but this time I pick Halo 3. I'm having more fun playing with friends and doing co-op with skulls for achievements than I've had all year. Bioshock was fun and pretty, but like everyone is saying, it got kinda old about half way through. World in Conflict is fun and pretty too, but still not as good as Company of Heroes was. Honestly, my favorite two games of 2007 so far are Halo 3 and Sup Com (multi). By the end of the year, I see my favorites still being Halo 3, Mass Effect, and (possibly) Crysis. Not to say something won't surprise me... (HL e2, portal, assassins creed, etc).

And jesus, fallout 3 can't come soon enough....

Notice that for some people it's more about what's popular now, and three years from now, also how many copies sold, how BIG it is. That's their main criteria for selecting goty! Thes people are almost all console people and all pick halo.

everyone should play Minerva (final version just released).
Better than every game on that list.
Google it: Minerva Metastasis
Genius, and free - a HL2 Mod.

I voted Bioshock, Lord of the Rings, and Halo 3.

I agree with almost every view of Bioshock. I mean, the game had a great atmosphere and polish to it. The audio mnight be the best of any game ever made. Sadly, I didn't have the heart to beat it since it was like most FPS's... repetitive... and I got bored and quit. It still doesn't mean it isn't one of the better games of the year. Definitely a kickass game for consoles, but I think PC gamers are older and more sophisticated (no offense to console gamers).

Lord of the Rings

Kudos to the team that brought about the greatest PvE MMO in recent memory (ever?) WoW is arguably the greatest PC game ever made, but LoTR's PvE is better, imo. Rich story, immersive locales, and fantastic polish. I wasn't a big fan of the animation-based fighting (which is why WoW is still the best MMO, imo), but for people who want to play 1 character and never run out of stuff to do or accomplish or collect... LoTR is the best. A very worthy MMO.

Halo 3

I'm not a console gamer. Having said that, anyone who trashes Halo 3 without really understanding what it does is just a PC fanboy. This game is unbelievable. I hate to say it guys, but Halo 3's multiplayer is better than any PC multiplayer game out right now. I'm not a big fan of the slow jumping, and horrible FoV, and the control scheme. But, if you fix all of that, and then look at what cool innovations the game offers, it is amazing. Console gamers are lucky to have a game like that available to them. If someone put a game like that properly on the PC, we would never leave the house. Forge, the replays, the vehicles, teamwork, weapons, cool tricks, maps, etc..... definitely believe the hype (and I hated every other Halo and I'm a PC fan at heart).

So far, I think Halo 3 is the game of the year. Why? Because 2 years from now, Halo 3 will still be hugely popular and no one will even remember Bioshock (the sad reality for single player games). I've heard incredible things about CoD4 though and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I've been playing TF2 all the time as well and it is a fantastic game.... despite being shallow compared to Halo 3. Ironically, Halo 3 is a much deeper game than TF2.

Twist and turn!

I bought bioshock becouse i played the demo on xbox live and thought it was cool and i got that old systemshock feeling again. To bad the demo was to short to realize i should've bought it on xbox instead, or even that. I just found it dull after a while.

Crysis is all that - graphics wise. No idea what settings you ran it at
It has the most fun "power strugle" gameplay mode out of battlefield / quake wars / crysis
and i havent had so much fun in any mp fps since quake 1-3 and the (now) occasional counter strike.

And if you want you can compare features being left out of other games:p The main point in my "comprimise" note wasnt that of items and such. One example is that i bet war games sell more to army nerds becouse it feels cool with real life weapons in their hands, and lots of them, when most of the gameplay just isnt fun... (CoD series do it quite well, sure, but atm on that list its only stalker / BC worth mentioning in any goty sentence)

I can agree with you on hellgate being quite bad (altough havent played that gem yet;)
