Who and what is "the modern man"? A lot of assumptions have been made about who men are today, with no real data to back up the claims. Descriptions of the modern man run the gamut from metrosexual, player, slick professional, and sensitive New Age romantic. But are these portrayals factual?
AskMen.com had to know. As the No. 1 men's lifestyle site on the Web, it was our obligation to know. Thus, the launch of the inaugural AskMen.com Great Male Survey. The objective was clear: to define modern men and get a sense of who they are. Are they conservative or liberal? What is their general attitude on women? On sex? Did they like their job, and why or why not?
What we found was surprising. Typical perceptions of men that we often see in the media went right out the window. Instead, we were left with the sense that most men are rather conservative, even old-fashioned in their values, and seek a balanced lifestyle between work and family (and yes, men want more sex).
Our attempts to dig down deep into the male psyche struck a chord with over 72,000 men on the Web and some 2 million plus answers later, AskMen.com's crack analytical team came up with some significant conclusions. Some male stereotypes remained close to the truth, but there was no shortage of shocking results.
And yes, we are proud to report that 91% of men cited AskMen.com as either having a positive impact on their lives or a consistent source of good information. As you review the results of the Great Male Survey, we hope both statements are more accurate than ever.
