Legal Assistance
The University of Oklahoma Law Center is an institution of higher education, not a legal counsel; consequently, it does not provide legal advice, and recommends that you seek competent legal counsel to assist you with your issue(s).
While we do not provide legal advice, we can list a few options which may be open to you:
- If you live in Cleveland or McClain Counties of Oklahoma, you can contact the OU Legal Clinic at 325-3702. The Legal Clinic only takes on a limited number of cases, and only at certain times of the year; please contact them for more information. The Legal Clinic only handles cases in Cleveland and McClain Counties.
- If you need legal advice or assistance on a criminal matter within Oklahoma, you can contact the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System at http://www.state.ok.us/~oids/ (Opens in a new window).
- To find an attorney in Oklahoma, you can use the "Finding a Lawyer" page on the Oklahoma Bar Association Web site at http://www.okbar.org/ (Opens in a new window).
- If you are not in Oklahoma, you can check your state's Bar Association's Web site. You can look for your state at the American Bar Association's Web site's directory of state and local Bar Associations at http://www.abanet.org/barserv/stlobar.html (Opens in a new window).
- If none of these can help you, you will need to seek legal counsel locally. You can normally check the Yellow Pages of your local phone book under the section Attorneys, or you can check the Web site of your state's Bar Association (see above).
- If you need assistance in your own Legal Research, you can call Reference Desk at the Donald E. Pray Law Library through their main number at (405)325-4311, or you can visit the Library in person.
