Transfer Students
To be eligible to transfer to OU Law with advanced standing, you must have completed at least one full year of study in an ABA-accredited law school. A transfer applicant must successfully complete at least 60 hours at OU Law. For course credit to be accepted by OU Law, the student must earn at least a C grade in each course to be transferred.
Timelines
Students applying to transfer for the fall semester may process their transfer application from May 1 to July 1 and are notified in July. Spring transfer applicants may process their application from Sept. 1 to Nov. 1 and are notified in December. Applicants who have completed their fall application and supporting documents by July 1 will be given priority review.
Checklist
To apply for transfer admission with advanced standing, the applicant must electronically submit an application form through LSAC, available at www.lsac.org (opens in new window), which includes:
- A $50 nonrefundable application and processing fee
- Personal statement indicating your reasons for wanting to transfer (upload at LSAC, no more than three double spaced pages)
- Resume (upload at LSAC)

- Transcript
- Two letters of recommendation (optional)
- LSAC Credential Assembly Service Report

- A letter from the dean or registrar indicating that you are in good academic standing and eligible to transfer
Transfer applicants for fall must furnish an official transcript and class rank showing spring semester grades. Transfer applicants for spring must furnish an official transcript and class rank reflecting their most recently recorded grades.
Applicants who have been dismissed from another law school for scholastic deficiency will not be considered for admission.
