Welcome to the home page for the Edinburgh Jewish Community.
The Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation (EHC) is a warm and vibrant Jewish Community based in the political and commercial capital of Scotland and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. EHC may be characterised as a mainstream Orthodox community and conducts its religious affairs in accordance with The United Hebrew Congregations of Great Britain and The Commonwealth (which is under the authority of the Chief Rabbi). It is firmly committed to ensuring that its young develop a sound knowledge of Jewish heritage, history and religious principles and practice.

The Synagogue itself, and the Community Centre, which is located in the same building, form the principle focus for Jewish communal life in Edinburgh.
The Mikveh (ritual bath) is located in the Synagogue grounds, and can used by arrangement. Email mikveh@ehcong.com if you would like more information, or wish to use the facility. Also, see the Mikveh page.
The community is both forward looking and receptive in outlook. Through its many Committees and Societies, it works towards the important goals of informing and developing the community itself, keeping close ties with the wider population, with which it has excellent relations, and making its contribution to those international issues and developments which affect Jews everywhere.

If you are visiting Edinburgh, the section on Visiting Edinburgh? is just for you. - Don't forget to look at Shabbat Hospitality. The Cheder page contains materials produced by the children themselves, and is well worth a look.
