Mount Holyoke College has a long standing commitment to environmental education and stewardship. Over the past decade we have been guided by the Mount Holyoke College Plan for 2010 which called for us to “accelerate our progress toward systematic practice of environmental stewardship…”. With a new decade and President, the May 2011 Report of the Strategic Planning Committee renewed our commitment to “continue to strengthen the College’s environmental stewardship and its linkage to environmental education and work to embed the principles and practices of environmental sustainability in campus operations”.
Environmental Indicators
To track our progress toward achieving these goals, the College has established six Environmental Indicators measuring energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, recycling rate, campus land use, and storm water management. These indicators are presented to the Trustees annually.
