Тема урока: “Phraseological units in the English literature” (Unit 1 “Reading…Why not?” 9 класс) Цель: Развитие социокультурной компетенции учащихся. Задачи: 1.Углубить сведения о стране изучаемого языка - Великобритании. 2.Выявить сходство и различие в восприятии мира носителями родного и изучаемого языков и научить находить смысловое соответствие между фразеологическими единицами двух языков. 3.Расширить лексико-фразеологический запас учащихся и снять трудности при чтении и переводе литературы на английском языке. 4.Воспитывать у учащихся уважительное отношение к иноязычной культуре. Оборудование: интерактивная доска, книги английских писателей, их портреты. Ход урока: 1.Организационный момент. Приветствие. Сообщение задач урока. T: We have already made the literary exploration about Britain. Now you know famous British writers and their works. To understand the English literature better let`s take phraseological units (PUs) used in it to make the language more emotional and expressive. 2. Речевая зарядка. T: What books do you prefer to read? P1: For me there is nothing better than reading humorous books. “Three men in a boat” by J. K. Jerome is my favourite one. I can give it five stars for humour. It`s a real thing! P2: I admire detective stories about Sherlock Holmes . P3:As for me I like satire. “Vanity Fair” by W. Thakerey is heavy with it. I can read it again and again. P4: I adore W. Shakespeare and his tragedy “ Romeo and Juliet”. T: By the way W. Shakespeare enriched the English literature approximately by one hundred phraseological units. Moreover he takes the second place after the Bible in using them. Here are some of them: a fool`s paradise( “Romeo and Juliet”) the green-eyed monster(“ Othelo”) give the devil his due(“ Henry v”) have an iching palm(“ Julius Caesar”) midsummer madness(“ Twelfth Night”) etc. 3.Проверка домашнего задания: прослушиваются сообщения учащихся о знаменитых английских писателях. 4. Активизация употребления в речи языкового материала. а) Find phraseological synonyms: know who is who where the devil lives far away get the ball rolling for ages within a stone`s throw of smth. under smb`s nose know how many beans make fire leave this world a month of Sundays put smth. on foot go to one`s last home b) Guess phraseological antonyms: earn an honest penny with heavy heart an old hand ring down the curtains swim like a duck tighten the purse strings heart of gold come to the wrong shop break the ice live by one`s wits loosen the purse strings swim like a stone come to the right shop heart of a stone with light heart weak as a cat strong as a horse lose one`s head take oneself in hand a green hand c) Give the Russian equivalents of the following phraseological units: не видеть дальше своего носа у чёрта на куличках покинуть бренный мир целая вечность быть себе на уме T: There are phraseological units dealing with metaphor. In this case the words “like” and “as” are used for comparison. Like is used after verbs and as is used after adjectives. d) Match the colums: drink a lunch eat a glove fit a chimney smoke like a fish(2) swim a stone stick wise a berry ugly as a cucumber brown a sin cool Solomon 5.Введение нового материала. Phraseological units with a body-part compoment. a) T: Now I want you to know that in modern English there is a group of phraseological units that are very active in legends, myths, proverbs and sayings and everyday speech. They have a body-part component in its structure. What Russian PUs with a body-part component do you know? P1: потерять голову P2: задирать нос P3: принимать близко к сердцу P4: взять себя в руки T: The most frequently- used components are: hand, head, heart . Let`s take PUs with a body component hand: take oneself in hand – взять себя в руки heavy in hand - тяжёлый на подъём on the one hand, on the other hand - с одной стороны, с другой стороны wash one`s hands - умыть руки have one`s hands full - хлопот полон рот give smb. a hand - помогать fall into smb.`s hands - угодить в чьи-то лапы show one`s hand - показать истинные намерения an old hand - опытный человек a green hand - новичок hand over heart - положа руку на сердце live from hand to mouth - кое-как перебиваться out of hand - с ходу T: What does the component “hand” symbolize? P1: It symbolizes witness, ability to concentrate. Now read the following PUs with a body- part component “head”. have a good head on young shoulders – иметь голову на плечах have one`s head in the clouds – витать в облаках keep one`s head – не терять голову have an old head on young shoulders – быть не по годам умным lose one`s head – потерять голову take it into a head – вбить себе в голову bury one`s head in the sand – зарыть голову в песок not right in the hand – не в своём уме T: What is the main meaning of the component “head”? P2: It is activity. P3: I think it is communication. P4: My opinion is it is skills. T: And what about the component “heart”? What symbolizes it? Look here and say. lose one`s heart - влюбиться heart is bleeding – сердце кровью обливается bare one`s heart – излить душу at the bottom of one`s heart – в глубине души eat one`s heart - изводить себя have a big heart – человек с большим сердцем have one`s heart in the right place – быть добрым человеком a heart of gold – золотое сердце a heart of stone – каменное сердце one`s heart stands still - замереть take smth. to heart – принимать близко к сердцу win one`s heart – покорить сердце T: So heart is the symbol of…? P5: feelings. T: You are right. b) самостоятельная работа учащихся с новым материалом As you see phraseological units with a body-part component characterize people`s character. Will you describe your character using them. P1: I should say I am heavy in hand. P2: Sometimes I lose my head. P3: Very often I fall into smb.`s hands. P4: From time to time I have my head in the clouds. P5: They say I have a heart of stone. P6: It`s not a rare thing when my heart sank into my boots. T: Now I see what kind of persons you are. In this case I`ll give you a peace of good advice. Don`t take it to heart. 6. Заключительный этап урока. а) подведение итогов, мотивация оценок. б) рефлексия T: Now will you take these shits of paper and fill in the following columns what you knew what you have learned what surprised you P1: I have learned that W. Shakespeare used over one hundred phraseological units in his works. P2: I didn`t know the Bible is the main sourse of phraseological units in English. It surprised me. P3: Now I know phraseological synonyms and antonyms.They make the language more emotional. P4: I have learned phraseological units with a body-part component that are used in legends, myths and everyday speech. P5: I knew many phraseological units with a body-part component in Russian, now I know them in English and can use them to describe my character for example. с) домашнее задание г) окончание урока. T: Use phraseological units and your speech will be emotional, expressive and you`ll be always interesting to talk with. What proverb is sutaible to finish our lesson? Pupils: “All is well that ends well”.
