The Personalities of Eight Societies

Social personalities, Utopia, etc.

THE PERSONALITIES OF EIGHT SOCIETIES The second set of societies is reactionary, and uses the ideas from the earlier societies to form their own idea about how society runs. They make the typical mistake of thinking that reacting to a phenomenon is enough to create a new phenomenon from the ground up. But, perhaps there is no other way to learn how to run a society. Yet, at the same time, these secondary societies tend to depend on earlier ideas unless they confront the real issues, instead of simply concocting temporary solutions. Militant Society -- > Peaceful Society Narcotic Society -- > Meaningful Society Economic Society -- > Modular Society Industrial Society -- > Nichist Society I. The Militant Society It thrives on solving the biggest problems found in nature. These are basic problems, and unfortunately, the continuation of the paradigm depends on continuing to solve them. II. The Peaceful Society The peaceful society depends on solving conflict. When the conflict is solved, it gets a big empty feeling unless it has a further purpose for motivation. III. The Narcotic Society The narcotic society has found a purpose beyond barbarism, but it raises new problems. The new process is not really self-sustaining, or not in a way that agrees with everyone. The society is too unpredictable, and people still get hurt. It’s sort of like militarism all over again, except on a cognitive level. IV. The Meaningful Society The meaningful society interprets narcotics and instead reaches for something different that is less dangerous. However, there is a lingering suspicion that meaning is still a kind of drug. Answers like love and prosperity win, but there is a big divergence in truths. Some even think war is a form of meaning. But at least it is different than the way war used to be fought. V. Economic Society Whether it is meaningful or not is the motto of this society. It responds to the sensitivity of the meaningful society and opts for something more universal, more tangible, perhaps sometimes even more relevant. But it is still, in some ways, a form of nature. VI. The Modular Society If you standardize everything on every level you get a modular society. People can get what they want in some form. Citizens are like government, and government is like citizens. Economics is conquered. Humans are no longer animals. VII. The Industrial Society The Utopian society is really the industrial society. It is a society that does what is asked for, and everything kind of clicks. However, this entire society is a luxury to some other society, that is often feeling mistreated and jealous. VIII. The Nichist Society Nichism is a step beyond Utopianism, in which the appropriate role of everything is understood, even giving some wiggle room to explore what any given person wants. Whether it is augmented by robots, entertainment, or concepts of information, this society permits everyone to find their own place in life, under the principle that people are best motivated to do what they want. However, the society depends on sustaining some paradigms that only came about through earlier trials and errors. Nathan Coppedge / SCSU 6/7/2015, p.
