A lot to say about the Vitamix blender. This particular model is 1:1 identical to the unit I have seen retail at Costco. Their buyers must have requested a more powerful motor and specs that place it above other Vitamix blenders in the same price range. Finding this model on Amazon, I have to assume these are diverted returns from Costco inventory. In the case of certified refurbished at Amazon, I have found no indication of prior use and by the looks of it, seems to have been factory repackaged in Ohio. No regrets buying refurbished, in fact I feel that I have accessed a best-of-class product on a steal! It's a great feeling folks.
Vitamix blenders have been around since the Pyramids it seems. A lot of people have owned them, and the longevity of their construction is proven. No need to go into detail on what has already been spoken of before. However, particular to this model. You will get a simple control console, better 2.2Hp motor, low profile container, and full warranty..... All at a cost substantially less than new. In fact, if it were still in my budget to reach for a better model, there is little value added for me to step-up. I prefer the manual blend controls (pulse, and manual variable are all I desire), and the 2.2Hp motor is above the standard 2Hp of even some higher cost models. This thing does everything and more. I rub in my friends faces that I bought what they saved up for at almost half the cost. Refurb. on this model is $260, new approx $350, and other models for minimal advantage (in my opinion) retail $500+
This blender will be a mainstay of my kitchen arsenal for years to come, and I am now convinced in the value of having a top tier blender. It is up to any task, and I have already used the blender to prepare food items I'd never have consider possible being made at home.
If you're on the fence about stepping up from something mid-grade and you are just slightly out of budget to get this blender, WAIT and buy when you can get this. It will pay for itself. There is a sense of price prestige around this item, but purchasing refurb has brought cost down to a level I can accept. But once you own one of these, I can say you are locked in on a piece of equipment that will last longer than your kitchen will.
