Spread and signal to noise ratio

Spread and signal to noise ratio (SNR) are based on forecasts from 1981 to 2006. The spread is defined as the inter-member standard deviation of the 15 members. Signal to noise ratio is taken as the ratio of interannual standard deviation of 15-member ensemble mean to the spread.
