Ocean Recoveries Lab

How can we recover ocean ecosystems in a dynamic and uncertain future?

We study how fishing and climate drive the biodiversity and resilience of kelp forests

And how coral reef ecosystems resist and recover from habitat destruction

Our Team

We are a team of research scientists at UC Santa Barbara dedicated to examining the environmental and biological forces governing the ocean resilience. Using a suite of methods including field experiments, mathematical modeling, and synthesis, we aim to uncover novel insights that help us understand how marine ecosystems will respond to both natural and anthropogenic disturbance.

See our researchpeople, and publications page for more details on the lab, and our join us page for details on our lab philosophy.
