Hudson's Big Adventure

“Today’s the big day, buddy!” I said to my son, Hudson. “You’re going to ride the school bus!” I smiled, but I was so anxious my stomach hurt. Hudson needed early intervention for a speech problem, but the only available program was in the middle of the day while his dad and I were at work. Having their school bus pick him up from day care was our only option.

I pulled a shirt on over Hudson’s head. I thought, It was quite an adventure for a three-year-old who couldn’t even tie his own shoe yet! And quite an adventure formom too. It seemed I was always asking Hudson’s guardian angel to be extra vigilant for one reason or another, because I myself couldn’t always be with him.
