Al Boglio is the 2024 inductee into the Slam Hall of Fame, joining a long and distinguished list of Australian skateboarding legends. Al’s effortless style and raw talent put him on Slam’s list of the 25 most influential Australian skateboarders in 2013, and now, a decade later, he has been welcomed to our Hall of Fame.
Al was raised in New Caledonia, but his family moved to the Gold Coast in 1989 during his early teens. He got his first photo published in Slam way back in Issue 10, a pint-sized little kid in chunky Vision kicks with a kickturn on a bank-to-wall. In the early ’90s, he became a staple of the Gold Coast skateboarding scene and was sponsored by Dave Bartie’s Deck Head Skate Shop. Al moved to Melbourne in ’93 and was hooked, which showcased that easy, effortless style he came to be known for.
