Back in 1987, Dick Haley’s first year as the head of the personnel department, the Steelers needed a cornerback. Or three.
Coming off their worst season since 1970, the 1986 Steelers – after Dwayne Woodruff had torn up a knee in preseason – started John Swain, Harvey Clayton, and Chris Sheffield at cornerback, and Eric Williams at free safety.
