The number 5 is embodied in the heavens by the Pentagram that Venus draws over time. Hidden within the Pentagram is the Golden Ratio, thought to confer beauty on everything that exists in its harmonious proportion. Correspondences to the divine mathematics of the Venus Pentagram are found throughout nature, art, architecture, and even the human body.
Mythic symbolism corresponding to the cycle of the planet Venus is found in stories from around the world, and these stories connect with astrological insight. This booklet provides a fascinating overview of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, in mathematics, nature, mythology, and astrology.

About the Author
"Goddess! To thee my soul hath vowed her duty.
Thy praise alone be henceforth sung by me!
Thou art the only fount of love and beauty;
All gifts of grace and favour flow from thee.
Who thee in passion’s rapture hath embraced
Hath learned the joys of love none else can know.
Poor fools, who love have never dared to taste,
Go – seek it in the Hill of Venus – Go!"
- Tannhauser, Richard Wagner
This essay is dedicated in reverence to the Goddess, and to seekers of the Grail.
A Cosmic Order
One of the most convincing proofs I have ever encountered that there is a divine order to the universe, and that astrology is one of many ways it is revealed to the seeker, can be stated in simplest form in a single prime number. That number is 5.
5 petals of the apple blossom, the cherry blossom, the columbine, the buttercup, or the wild rose. 5 points of the human body, as illustrated by Leonardo Da Vinci in his Vitruvian Man. 5 fingers. 5 toes. 5 senses. The fifth element. 5 elements in Chinese tradition. The Pentagram that the planet Venus, working with our Sun, draws in the heavens over time.
What? Never heard of that last cosmic fivefold? Hidden within it is the heavenly expression of the Pythagorean mathematical concepts of the golden ratio, the divine proportion, known to mathematicians as the number PHI (1.618), which is found throughout nature and in turn has inspired some of humanity’s greatest artists and architects.
The Venus Pentagram excites me every time I think about it. I’ve been known to leap in the air with joy when describing this natural phenomenon to others. It proves to me something extraordinary is happening outside the bounds of our everyday consciousness. It fills me with awe and wonder. Here’s how it works:
Approximately every ten months, Venus conjuncts the Sun. A conjunction is when two heavenly bodies align at the same degree along the ecliptic, an imaginary line that circles the earth along the zodiacal constellations. All of the planets in our solar system, as well as our Sun and our Moon, appear to travel along this line
