Fathers Assemble!
By
Yohanna Michaels
DEDICATION
To All Fathers
AKNOWLEDGMENTS
My Father
My Other Fathers
First of all, I must thank Our Heavenly Father, whose autobiography sources the inspiration and wisdom, the craft and presence of mind to focus long enough to write these words, one, next to the other. Plus, there is, the issue of my totally awesomeness! I’ll leave it at that.
To Shaun Seibert, whose words and friendship have meant more to me than you might fathom. You are a friend indeed.
To all fathers, young or old, veterans or newbies. This one’s for you!
To my father, Chief F.C Umuna. I remember growing up in your house. You did good, Daddy!
To all the Men in my life: Let’s go forth and change the world some more, for Good.
Unleash the Kingdom of Our God. Amen!
We are an army of Priests not Priests in an army.
You are the head not the tail. Fathers are leaders. Men, take your place!
Work for the night is coming when man shall work no more. And should the darkness overtake thee, let your light shine that men may see and glorify your Father.
Fathers, Assemble!
FOREWORD
These stories here contained, are works of fiction.
Many preceding me have attempted to rewrite the bible. Some succeeded whereas others failed. This is not another attempt, this is not another version. This is just a curious re-envisioning of the texts we have come, through the ages, to love and revere. It is not my intention to rewrite the Holy Scriptures.
My intention is merely to entertain the curious mind of the youth and cause an avenue for questions and answers. CHRONICLES is based on true, life’s events as recorded in Holy Scripts and written for fathers to arm their children, while entertaining them by the fireplace, for the life they, as custodians of the future, have been commissioned to guide their children in.
To acquire the true accounts of most of these rare retellings and constructs, please refer to their recordings in the HOLY BIBLE. May our Eternal Father guide us all to His pleasure!
BOOK ONE
I
First, she heard the sounds of the garden as she came to. And, though she did not understand it all, it sounded good to her. Then, she realized her eye lids could move at her will. She opened her eyes. The light of the sun filled her sight. She snapped them shut. Slowly, she tried again. Her lenses adjusted to the light. Then, she began to discern shapes, forms, colors, shades, it was all so fascinating.
She saw a humming bird, she heard her song. It sounded like the same song reverberating in her consciousness.
I was made for this
With it I do agree
I look and I can see
This is who I be.
I was made to love
My strength comes from above
Fervent as a burning stove
I was made to love.
I was made to love
I was made to love
Fervent as a burning stove
I was made to love!
She saw a flower, it pleased her so. She heard and subsequently saw a spring nearby. Then, in a corner, she saw another. He stirred, still asleep.
He opened his eyes. The sun was going down.
How long have I been asleep?
He asked himself as he raised his frame onto his elbow. He let his head fall backwards as he looked towards the heavens and closed his eyes to listen to the sounds that surrounded him. He felt the evening sun on his skin, he smelled the lake close by, and he smelled something else in the air, something he never noticed before. There was something different, today, about his home. There was a quiet unlike any he had ever known before. Something had changed. He could feel it, he knew it. He opened his eyes and glanced around.
This is fate, tis meant to be
This, the sole future I can see
This is fair, makes me free
This, the very image of me.
She stared at him as his eyes fell on her. She had never seen him before, yet, she felt she knew him. She wondered where he came from, how long he had been there and if he could see her. Off-course he could see her. He was staring right back at her. She stood up straight, she smiled. The music in the air was the music in her heart. The melody of the birds gave in to the rhythm of her heart. She heard it all around, she felt it on her skin. She was his image, his lover, his kin.
My convictions stick with me
You can search my history
Through as far as eye can see
This truth has made me free.
In this my life’s complete
The cause for no defeat
In this I move my feet
Tis where I keep my seat.
Adam could not believe his eyes. She looks just like me. Well, technically, she was slightly different but, in ways that complimented him. He saw her stand up straight and jumped to his feet. He dusted his bum and stepped forward.
I was made to love
This is my righteous cause
Ye, though I may fall
This remains my all.
I was made to love
I was made to love
Ye, though I fall
This is my all
And I was made to love!
II
…and be free of him. Assert your singular power and rights over him. He can’t resist you anyway…
He looked around to find it still was just the two of them there.
…Who cares what he thinks...
He snickered to himself and continued. …You are a free entity, an independent woman, and smart too. You lead the way, let him trail after you. He is slacking, he does not know what’s good for his self, let alone what’s good for you…
She considered what he had been saying. There was no reason why she shouldn’t take this decision without his input. This was her chance to take the initiative and wow her man.
I’ll show him!
…Yes!
he hissed at her. He didn’t see any need to continue his speech as he watched her keenly.
She put all caution far and out of her mind as she reached, as she reached out. Her mind was made up. She took the fruit and bit into it. It was juicy. Sweet nectar dripped richly down the side of her face as she shut her eyes to savor the exquisite taste of independence. By the time she opened her eyes, she was no longer the same.
He smiled menacingly at her. With his cunning, he had influenced the woman to do just what he wanted her to. But that was just half the success. It was only a matter of time before, through her, he would ensnare the man as well. He turned and slithered away quietly, into the depths of the groove where he remained in wait to see his plan play out. And as everything quietened down, it seemed he wasn’t ever even there.
The man had come home from tending the garden that evening to check in and spend some quality time with his gentle lady lover and perhaps return Far East of the estate to move a fallen log that had accidentally clogged a tiny spring. He had no idea why nor when this happened but,
