About this ebook
Nadia Green left Irwin Texas and was back in her element, New York, the city that never slept. She loved being amidst the throngs of people and the fast paced life that she thrived in. But she found something in Texas and someone she couldn’t stop thinking about. That was the fierce attraction for Jonas ‘Crow Feather” Collins. Beneath all her bluster, her insecurities about her size kept her from making a move and now she regretted it. Jonas took care of that for himself when he showed up at her apartment in Manhattan. From there a whirlwind courtship began, one that rocked her foundation and the kisses they shared blew her mind. But could something that intense last or fizzle out just as quickly? Especially when she and Jonas were from two different worlds and her cowboy seemed to be unwilling to share his secrets.

The Cowboy in New York - Dahlia Rose
Chapter One
Nadia sighed as she walked down the block to her apartment. Another day in the paradise that was New York City. She took a breath and inhaled the crisp air of fall. It made her happier even though her day had gone so very badly.
You’re cute, and we could make a great couple,
Chris had said.
Nadia recalled her smile as she took a sip of wine. Is there a ‘but’ after that?
Actually, yes,
he said.
She didn’t expect that, and her heart jumped a little. So, what’s the rest of the sentence?
You’re a bit more full figured than I’m accustomed to dating, and if we hit the gym together and eat right we could get you down to a six or even five.
He winked at her and took a long drink of his beer. I mean, your metabolism is fighting and probably slow. Those rib tips and rice you had for dinner will turn into more fat.
She really didn’t like Chris anyway. Maybe that was too harsh, but she didn’t care one way or the other about him. He was a set-up date that just happened through an associate of hers. After his words, Nadia felt her anger go from simmer to boil and then overflow like the volcano that took Pompeii. If he keeps smiling at me like that I’m going to punch him in the face. She took a big bite of her dinner and chewed it thoughtfully, then swallowed before speaking.
So, a size six you say?
Nadia kept her voice pleasant. She wasn’t going to be dealing with another version of Randall. Her ex’s name still made her shudder.
You sound intrigued. I like a woman who sees her faults and tries to fix them.
Chris’s voice held a note to triumph.
Let me point out your faults, Chris,
Nadia said coldly. Combing over your hair doesn’t hide the fact that you’re going bald. Sweetie, go bald with grace. Do you know why you want a size six or less? Because that pencil dick between your legs needs someone to feel it, and the girls on the small size can fake it better.
Nadia stood and put her napkin neatly on the table. She ran her hand down her ample hips. Sweetie, all these curves you see before you need a real man. Thick, sexy, assured, and not the kind that thinks body shaming a woman will secure himself dominant male status. I’m not ashamed of my body, I love it, and this fine ass drives men wild. So you can keep that gym membership you want to share, and I’ll keep my size ten-twelve curves. Oh, dinner is on your ass. I mean, you pay, even though I’m tempted to throw it in your face.
On that note, Nadia turned and left the restaurant. She did it with all her class and dignity intact, and now she walked down Fifty-seventh Street to her apartment, enjoying the night air. She was so tired of men expecting her to be this small wisp of a woman that could blow away in a New York winter breeze. Did they not know how cold the city got? Hell, she needed her extra layers to fight that bone chilling wind, and she looked damn good for her size. She tried to have the self-esteem of three women. Yet, it was sickening to hear, You’re cute, funny, and intelligent, if only you were a few sizes smaller.
Nadia shook her head. Forget that. She didn’t even know why she went on the date anyway.
Working for her boss and best friend was a hard but fun job. Sloan Enterprises was a huge entity, but since she was Kerri’s assistant she could technically work from Texas for a while. That was where her true interest lay—in the soft green eyes of Jonas, one of Alex’s close friends. If his sex appeal and quiet charm could be bottled, she would buy all the bottles. Nadia felt like they had a connection, but she wondered if he’d be like every other guy and think her weight was a deciding factor. Not every woman can be a size two, she grumbled in her head as she walked up the steps of her apartment building. Maybe a trip to Texas was in order. Even watching him work on the ranch was better than nothing. Jonas shirtless could take her temperature up a few decibels, make her panties wet, and cause her to sip her peach iced tea real damn slow.
Inside her apartment she closed the door on the bad date and looked around her space. She had an eclectic taste in décor, a mixture of contemporary and comfort in different shades of reds, greens, creams, and purples. Usually it gave her a sense of peace and comfort, but right now she just felt antsy. Nadia walked to her kitchen and grabbed a bottle of wine from the fridge and popped the cork. Who was she kidding? She knew why she was so hyped. It had been a year and a half since she was in a relationship and longer since she’d had sex. A girl had needs, and lately all the men seemed to be bullshitters or had some kind of agenda. Yeah, like making me sweat my ass off in a gym, she thought angrily. She hated working out but ate healthy and kept to low impact exercise to keep toned and healthy. Sweating out her hairstyle wasn’t on her list of to-do things.
Nadia grabbed her glass, went into her bedroom, and began to take off her jewelry. She recalled the last talk she had with the man she was crushing on since Kerri set foot in Texas—Alex’s business partner, Jonas. A few nights ago she’d called the main house when Kerri didn’t answer her cell phone. It was an important piece of business that Nadia needed her to sign off on ASAP. With Kerri now firmly fixed in Texas, the New York offices were run by telecommunication, fax machines, and video conferencing. Instead of Kerri or Alex answering, Jonas did, and as usual, his sexy voice made her puddle in all the right places.
Hey, is Kerri there by any chance?
she’d asked and heard the breathiness to her own voice.
Unfortunately, no. They went into town for dinner,
Jonas said. I came in to grab some purchase orders from the office. Do you want me to leave a message for her?
Nadia sighed. No, I needed an answer on this now.
Then why don’t you make the decision?
he asked. You and Kerri share the same brain sometimes. I’ve heard you finish each other’s sentences. You know what she’d do.
Do you think I should?
Nadia asked.
If you can’t reach her, and you don’t have any other options, I don’t see what other choice you have,
Jonas said.
Okay, thanks. I’ll leave her a message to call me when she finally picks up that cell phone I can barely reach her on. I swear, it’s like running the place myself,
she said. So, how are you?
I’m well. When are you visiting again?
Jonas asked.
Why? Do you miss me?
Nadia teased.
"I
