About this ebook
Surina stood alone at the top of a mountain notorious for both its incredible views and tragic endings. Convinced that her own life was no longer worth living, it was an unwelcome interruption when Jar's presence distracted her from her purpose.
But to Jar, Surina was not just another suicide victim-to-be. At an age where transformation was no longer possible, it hit Jar squarely in the face that this lonely young woman could be a life partner.
As unexpected as their meeting was, their attraction could not be denied and Jar had to decide if a risky transformation procedure was worth it for a chance at a future with Surina.
Even with such a short acquaintance, they wanted this relationship to breathe hope for a future where they both could have a chance at happiness.

Surina
If it hadn’t been for the reason I was here, I could have appreciated the vista of the land laying before me so much more. The sky was an exceptional shade of azure and the contrast of the red-brown hills rolling away from the valley wasn’t lost on me. Neither was the emerald of the valley hugging the river with its crystal clear water gently flowing away to the ocean on the other side of the horizon.
There was a subtle freshness of jasmine and honeysuckle drifting on the barely detectable breeze. I couldn’t see the flowers, but I didn’t search for them either. I simply stood and allowed the view to saturate my eyes. My nose. My skin.
I couldn’t hear much above the waterfall a few meters where I was standing, although screeching birds were slightly detracting from the perfection of my day. I didn’t look down. There was nothing worth looking at. Soon, but not yet.
The day was so beautiful that it was hard to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill from my eyes, but they didn’t. I have cried too much to want to blur my last view of life. Instead I blinked and the world cleared again.
It was interesting being here. Given the statistics and the notoriety of this place, I was surprised to be alone. Surprised, but not ungrateful. Alone. And lonely. The tears threatened again, but I clenched my fists and willed them away.
It’s heartbreaking, isn’t it?
The voice startled me and I took a step back. I wasn’t standing on the edge, but the instinctive need for safety was still there. I didn’t want company and kept quiet, wishing the intruder would leave. I refused to look at him, her — it didn’t matter.
It is considered the most beautiful view on the planet, and yet it has been witness to more tragedy and sadness than any other place in our entire history.
I took a deep breath, trying to find my inner self over the rising irritation clouding my brain. Gathering my patience, I turned towards the voice, which was speaking again, although I no longer listened.
Then my irritation vaporised in the foggy dampness of the waterfall. I was looking at a fe/male. They were the ones that gave this mountain top its reputation. This was the place where they came to commit suicide when they reached the age of thirty without transforming. I looked down and then out over the valley once more. They didn’t transform because they
