- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked this book. The main idea is the celebration and history of Hanukkah. The book discussed the traditions of Hanukkah and what each tradition means. In the text, pronunciations are given next to vocabulary words. For example, menorah (muh-NOR-uh) is given in the text. These text features allow readers to figure out how to say the word correctly. Another reason I liked the book was the background of each page. Traditional symbols and elements were like wallpaper for the story; the background ties in each page and maintains the focus of the theme. These symbols include: Menorahs, dradles, and the start of David. There are a few pages in the book that have text squares and columns that display additional information about the holiday. Overall this was a good book and very informational about Hanukkah.
